History Behind the Day
In April 2018, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 3 as World Bicycle Day. This decision was made to recognize the uniqueness, longevity, and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for over two centuries. The idea was proposed by Professor Leszek Sibilski, who led a campaign to promote the resolution, gaining support from Turkmenistan and 56 other countries.
